ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 03 March 2000 Lancaster, California Minutes of the March 2000 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2020 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: J. Beasley, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, J. Madriaga, H. Morris, D. Tate, J. Wetzel, and R. Wetzel. Visitor present: William Taras. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES After much discussion, Mr. Beasley moved and Mr. Morris seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as written. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Frozina reported that he received several e-mails from Paul Catapano, a former member. OFFICER REPORTS President: No report. Vice President: Absent. Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported on the Club's web site hits for the past year. Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel reported that we are solvent. Also that our insurance agent is in the process of submitting our loss application. Publicist: No report. Superintendent: Mr. Beasley said that the older McHenry couplers with the plastic knuckle springs DO NOT meet Club standards, although the newer McHenry couplers with the metal knuckle springs do meet Club standards. COMMITTEE REPORTS Control/Electrical: No report. Fair Liaison: Absent. Grounds: Absent. Housekeeping: Absent. Inventory: Mr. Frozina reported that he has secured a laptop to assist him in the inventory all items belonging to the Club. Relocation: Mr. Crawford referred the members to the printed report. Rolling Stock: Mr. Crawford reported that two of our three Athearn F7s are OK after he removed all the lubrication on the trucks -- they were then able to conduct electricity. The third F7 has a bad driveshaft which needs to be replaced. Scenery/Structures: Mr. Crawford reported for Mr. Veihdeffer. Lake Cheeky has been removed and is in the process of being redone -- using a screen and plaster base this time. Track: No report. SPECIAL ORDERS None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Brochure Holders: Mr. Schultz also needs to get four 8 1/2" x 11" sign holders. Cab Controller: Mr. Crawford reported that we have three new cabs, but the wrong cables were sent. Decoder Software: Mr. Beasley still needs to get the EasyRamp II software. NEW BUSINESS Complimentary Decoders: Mr. Beasley moved and Mr. Frozina seconded that any new member, from this point forward, will receive only one decoder. Discussion followed. The motion passed unanimously. Complementary NMRA Membership: Mr. Frozina moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that the Vice President will no longer receive an NMRA membership paid for by the Club. Discussion followed. The motion passed unanimously. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Morris mentioned that The Train Room, 20825 South St., Unit C, at the back of the Barbershop in old town Tehachapi, is offering an 11% discount to Club members. Mr. Frozina reported on the Railfan Expedition to the Tehachapi Loop on Sunday, 27 February 2000. Mr. Frozina, along with his uncle Harry, Mr. Crawford, along with his spouse Marcia, and Mr. Morris, along with his significant other Michelle, saw six trains from 9 am to 2 pm. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 07 April 2000 at 2000 hours in the Club car.
