ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 12 May 2000 Lancaster, California Minutes of the May 2000 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2033 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: J. Beasley, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, H. Morris, D. Tate, H. Veihdeffer, J. Wetzel, and R. Wetzel. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. R. Wetzel seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as corrected. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Frozina reported that he contacted the webmaster of the PSR-NMRA Cajon Division to update our website's URL. OFFICER REPORTS President: Mr. Crawford had no report. Vice President: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported that the web site has been updated; that the roster will be distributed next meeting; and that he will prepare a letter for Mr. Crawford to Mr. Dan Jacobs about the tree root safety hazard. Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel reported that we are solvent; that our insurance check has yet to be seen; and that Mr. Jameson needs an intentions letter. Publicist: Mr. Morris reported that he will start the Fair ad campaign soon. Superintendent: Mr. Beasley had no report. COMMITTEE REPORTS Control/Electrical: Mr. Beasley reported that he sent a letter to Dr. Chubb about DCC detection. Based upon Dr. Chubb's response, we have three choices, which range from $164.00 to $500.00 in cost. Mr. Beasley indicated that he will write NorthCoast Engineering about using common rail wiring with our boosters. Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultze was absent. Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer reported on the tree root safety hazard next to our Eastern stairs. Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey was absent. Inventory: Mr. Frozina reported that he has completed the physical inventory of the Car's exterior and will soon start the physical inventory of the Car's interior. Relocation: Mr. Crawford had no report. Rolling Stock: Mr. Veihdeffer needs to know who owns what rolling stock so that he can continue his development of our car card system. Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Track: Mr. R. Wetzel had no report. SPECIAL ORDERS None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Brochure Holders: No action. Decoder Software: Mr. Beasley reported that the delivery of the EasyRamp II software has been delayed. Computer: The computer is on site, but the harddisk drive need to be defragmented. Tools: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Stereo Receiver: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that he has not yet "cased" his usual haunts to see what's available. NEW BUSINESS Car Worth: Former member Paul Catapano has arranged for someone to appraise the Car (as a car and not as scrap) to determine its worth. Seefus Meeting: Mr. Morris reported that he has been in conversation with Mr. Jack Seefus, Fair Board Director, about having a meeting with the officers of the three model railroad clubs in the Antelope Valley. The purpose of said meeting would be to discuss possibilities/options for space at the new Fairgrounds. Clock: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that he purchased a large 12" electric clock for the Club. Donation: Mr. Frozina reported that Ms. Caroline Zuetel donated a box of HO scale items, including 6 Atlas Mark III turnouts, to the Club. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Crawford announced that we will have a work session to complete the Dispatcher's Control Panel over the Memorial Day weekend. Mr. Veihdeffer announced that he visited Al Way and ran Al's 1 1/2" scale Rio Grande diesel locomotive. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 02 June 2000 at 2000 hours in the Club car. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that we adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
