ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 05 January 2001 Lancaster, California Minutes of the January 2001 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2002 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: J. Beasley, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, M. Lacey, H. Morris, N. Schultz, D. Tate, H. Veihdeffer, J. Wetzel and R. Wetzel. Guest present: Bill Shiverdecker. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES Mr. Lacey moved and Mr. Veihdeffer seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as written. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Card from Paul Catapano, a former member; card from Robert Driver and Associates, our former insurance carrier; ad from e-Hobbies; and the PO Box renewal from the USPS. OFFICER REPORTS President: Mr. Crawford thanked his constituents for his re-election. Vice President: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported that the web site has been updated. For 2000, the Home page had 1980 hits; the Pictures page had 1548 hits, and the vandalism page, again most popular, had 1210 hits. Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel had no report. Publicist: Mr. Beasley had no report. Superintendent: Mr. Schultz outlined his goals for the new year: no new projects; complete projects already started; two run nights a month -- 2nd and last Fridays; one strike rule for locomotives -- if it fails, it's removed until fixed; consists need to be blocked before run nights; and clean the track the Friday before each run night. COMMITTEE REPORTS Mr. Crawford established the following committees with the following chairs: Electrical: Mr. Tate Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultz Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey Inventory: Mr. Frozina Rolling Stock: Mr. Lacey Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer Track: Mr. R. Wetzel SPECIAL ORDERS Mr. Frozina moved and Mr. Lacey seconded that the monthly dues remain at $10.00. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Schultz seconded that the Equity Fee remain at $100.00. The motion passed unanimously. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Tool Cart: Mr. Veihdeffer reported no progress. Stereo Receiver: Mr. Veihdeffer reported no progress. Intelligent Circuit Breakers: Mr. Veihdeffer reported no progress. RF Pulsing: Mr. Beasley reported that when Mr. Tate installed the filter components on a block, the block occupancy lamp on the CTC panel lighted. Mr. Beasley will rethink the installation. NEW BUSINESS AVMRC Signage: Mr. Tate proposed that we have 'Antelope Valley Model Railroad Club' painted on the side of the car that faces Ave. I. Several members pointed out that this would increase our risk of theft, and the whole matter was dropped. Security System: Mr. Frozina reported that the new security system has been installed and is functioning. Missing Headset Radio: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that he can not find one of the new headset radios. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Veihdeffer announced that on 12 January 2001, there will be a train show in Bakersfield. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 02 February 2001 at 2000 hours in the Club car. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that we adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
