ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 02 March 2001 Lancaster, California Minutes of the March 2001 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2025 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: J. Beasley, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, M. Lacey, J. Madriaga, H. Morris, D. Tate, J. Wetzel and R. Wetzel. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES Mr. Lacey moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as written. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Bulletin and calendar from NMRA; letter from M. Hamilton; utility bill from Fair; and PO Box renewal refund (in stamps!) from the USPO. OFFICER REPORTS President: Mr. Crawford reported that we need to work on our proposal soon. Vice President: Mr. Veihdeffer was absent. Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported that he has placed many games on the web site. Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel reported that we are solvent. Publicist: Mr. Beasley reported that he sent in club announcement to both Model Railroader and Railroad Model Craftsman; and that he has the Fair notice read to go. Superintendent: Mr. Schultz was absent. COMMITTEE REPORTS Electrical: Mr. Tate reported that in the next few weeks, the switch machines and control panel will be completed for the Mill Branch. Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultz was absent. to the Fair Board. Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer was absent. Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey had no report. Mr. Beasley commented that when locking up the car, be extra sure that the East end door is bolted and that the West end door is securely locked. Inventory: Mr. Frozina had no report. Operating: Mr. Veihdeffer was absent. Mr. Frozina commented that last week's formal run night went well. It took four trains about a (real) hour and a half to act out the senarios. Rolling Stock: Mr. Lacey had no report. Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer was absent. Track: Mr. R. Wetzel had no report. Mr. Madriaga reported on a few problem areas: new double crossover on the Mesa Division has a hump in it; the East tunnel portal of Mt. Tom on the Valley Division needs some work so that 85' cars can go through. SPECIAL ORDERS None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Intelligent Circuit Breakers: Mr. Veihdeffer was absent. NEW BUSINESS Railers: Mr. Morris moved and Mr. Tate seconded that the Club purchase four plastic railer ramps -- two for the yard on the Mesa Division and two for the yard on the Valley division. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Tate to acquire said ramps. As part of this motion we agreed to enforce the policy that when you place your cars in the yard, to use the railers. Also, when placing a locomotive on the track, to use the railer mounted on the program track. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Frozina announced that the Santa Barbara GATS will be Saturday and Sunday, 03 and 04 March 2001. Mr. Frozina announced that Saturday, 16 June 2001 will be a railfan excursion to the Tehachapi Loop. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 13 April 2001 at 2000 hours in the Club car. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Beasley moved and Mr. Morris seconded that we adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 2103 hours.
