ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 19 October 2001 Lancaster, California Minutes of the October 2001 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2006 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: T. Crawford, D. Frozina, M. Lacey, H. Morris, D. Tate H. Veihdeffer, J. Wetzel, and R. Wetzel. Guest Present: Paul Phillips. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Lacey seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as written. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Frozina reported that we received 3 e-mails: Houston Tinplate Society, new URL; Dan Wexler, model railroad in trailer for sale; MOAA Marketing, Toy Train Exhibit. Mr. Frozina also reported that we received 4 letters: Daylight Sales, catalog; City of Glendale, "Danger Lights" movie presentation; NMRA, dues renewal; Tristan Wilkins, membership inquiry. Mr. R. Wetzel reported that we received 4 letters: 2 bank statements; 2 utility bills. OFFICER REPORTS President: Mr. Crawford reported that we had a nice fair; that everyone pulled their weight; and that the layout ran OK. Vice President: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Secretary: Mr. Frozina had no report. Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel reported that we were solvent and that we did well financially during the Fair. Publicist: Mr. Beasley was absent. Mr. Crawford reported that the members of Cub Scout Pack 283, Den 4 and their parents enjoyed the private display of the layout. Superintendent: Mr. Schultz was absent. COMMITTEE REPORTS Electrical: Mr. Tate had no report. Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultz was absent. Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey had no report. Inventory: Mr. Veihdeffer will bring in the inventory program for Mr. Frozina to try. Operating: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that we would have only one formal run night per month through the end of the year. The next formal run night will be the 3rd Friday in November. Rolling Stock: Mr. Lacey reported that he cleaned the track cleaning cars' cleaning pads. Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that Mr. Way planted his orange grove. Mr. Tate will purchase 2 packs of parking stops for the parking lot on the Mill Branch. Track: Mr. R. Wetzel had no report. Mr. Crawford reported that he believes he knows what's causing the shorting in the reversing sections and will make the necessary repairs. SPECIAL ORDERS Probationary Member: Mr. Paul Phillips was introduced as a new probationary member. Welcome Paul! UNFINISHED BUSINESS Intelligent Circuit Breakers: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that delivery was promised in 3 weeks. Signal Project: Mr. Crawford requested that Mr. Veihdeffer, Mr. Frozina and himself complete the signal kits, even if we put them on the layout as non-operating. Private Cars: Mr. Schultz was absent. NEW BUSINESS AVARM Holiday Party: Mr. Veihdeffer will try to schedule for 1st Friday in December at the Palmdale Hometown Buffet. ANNOUNCEMENTS Bitter Creek & Western RR Trip: Mr. Frozina reported that our trip to Bitter Creek will be Saturday and Sunday, the 20th and 21st of October. GATS: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that GATS will be at Fairplex in Pomona November 10th and 11th. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 02 November 2001 at 2000 hours in the Club car. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Morris seconded that we adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
