Minutes of the November 2001 regular business meeting.
CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2010 hours in the Club
car on the AV Fairgrounds.
ROLL CALL
Members present: J. Beasley, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, M. Lacey,
J. Madriaga, D. Tate, H. Veihdeffer, J. Wetzel, R. Wetzel and
R. Ybarra.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES
Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that the reading of the
minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be
approved as written. The motion passed unanimously.
COMMUNICATIONS
Mr. Crawford reported that we received an e-mail from John Quinn of the
Corona Model Railroad Society regarding permission to use our Bylaws as
the basis of their club's bylaws. Permission was given.
OFFICER REPORTS
President: Mr. Crawford had no report.
Vice President: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report.
Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported that he updated the website.
Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel reported that we were solvent; and that our
NMRA sustaining membership has been renewed.
Publicist: Mr. Beasley had no report.
Superintendent: Mr. Schultz was absent. Mr. Beasley requested that when
tech'ing cars, make sure that the wheel gauge is correct.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Electrical: Mr. Tate had no report.
Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultz was absent.
Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report.
Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey had no report.
Inventory: Mr. Veihdeffer will bring in the inventory program for
Mr. Frozina.
Operating: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that the next formal run night will
be 16 November 2001.
Rolling Stock: Mr. Lacey had no report.
Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report.
Track: Mr. R. Wetzel had no report. Mr. Crawford reported that he fixed
the shorting problem in the helix reversing sections by disconnecting
their block detectors.
The switch to the Swift Packing Plant needs attention or replacement.
SPECIAL ORDERS
Mr. Crawford opened nominations for the 2002 officers. The following

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Intelligent Circuit Breakers: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that we are still
awaiting delivery.
Signal Project: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that he has started his signal
kits.
Private Cars: Mr. Schultz was absent. Mr. Frozina polled the members on
the type of car we wanted to do. The results were as follows: Accurail
5900 series, 50 foot welded double-door boxcar, tuscan, built 1983,
number series 2401-2448, with "Return empty to Mojave Yard". Mr. Frozina
will give Mr. Schultz this information and a copy of the AVR logo.
AVARM Holiday Party: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that our holiday party will
be at the Palmdale Hometown Buffet on Friday, 07 December 2001 at 1930
hours.
NEW BUSINESS
RR Xing Circuit: Mr. Beasley moved and Mr. Madriaga seconded that we
allocate $25.00 to purchase a railroad crossing circuit for our
prototype RR xing. The motion passed unanimously.
Toy Trains: Mr. Veihdeffer moved Mr. Frozina seconded that we allocate
$200.00 to purchase two (2) HO toy train sets: a Thomas the Tank Engine
set and a Harry Potter Hogwarts Express set before the next Fair. The
motion passed unanimously. Mr. Veihdeffer and Mr. Frozina to handle.
World's Greatest Hobby: Mr. Beasley moved and Mr. Veihdeffer seconded
that we affiliate the Club with the "World's Greatest Hobby" organization.
The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Beasley to handle.
Operation Life Saver: Mr. Frozina moved and Mr. R. Wetzel seconded that
we affiliate the Club with the "Operation Lifesaver" organization and
place an Operation Lifesaver logo and link on our web site. The motion
passed unanimously.
Trains on Top: Mr. Beasley reminded the members that if you leave a
train on top of the layout, it's fair game for anyone to move or run.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
None.
NEXT MEETING
The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 07 December 2001 at
1930 hours at the Palmdale Hometown Buffet.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Beasley moved and
Mr. Ybarra seconded that we adjourn the meeting. The motion passed
unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 2104 hours.
