ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 14 June 2002 Lancaster, California Minutes of the June 2002 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2012 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: J. Beasley, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, M. Lacey, H. Morris, N. Schultz, D. Tate, and H. Veihdeffer. Guests present: Jan Cenkner, John Cenkner, Geri Schultz and Larry Wines. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Lacey seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as written. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Frozina reported that the key to the PO Box has been lost. Mr. Beasley reported that he received information from World's Greatest Hobby. OFFICER REPORTS President: Mr. Crawford had no report. Vice President: Mr. Beasley had no report. Secretary: Mr. Frozina had no report. Treasurer: Mr. Schultz reported that we are financially sound. He was also contacted by someone from Travel Town in Griffith Park about getting the Club Car. Publicist: Mr. Beasley reported that our announcement was sent to the NMRA Bulletin; and that we appeared in the AV Press Showcase column. Superintendent: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. COMMITTEE REPORTS Electrical: Mr. Tate had no report. Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultz reported that he has been unable to get together with Mr. Seefus. Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey reminded the members that we need to thoroughly clean the car before the Fair. A day of clean-up has been scheduled for 03 August 2002. Inventory: Mr. Frozina reported that he started importing the old data into the new program. Operations: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that the operating session went well and was quick. The next operating session will be Friday, 28 June. Rolling Stock: Mr. Beasley reported that we purchased two stock cars, so that Mr. Boone can have his stock cars back. Scenery/Structures: Mr. Tate reported that the roundhouse/turntable area has been renovated and that the turntable motor now rotates. Track: Mr. Tate had no report. SPECIAL ORDERS None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Private Cars: Mr. Beasley will now handle. Toy Trains: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that Thomas is in, but is very light and will need much weight to be a Really Useful Engine. Visit to Santa Barbara: New date--Saturday, 20 July 2002. Trailers: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that the trailers being considered are no longer available. Passenger Station: Mr. Veihdeffer purchased the Walthers Union Station kit and will assemble it. NEW BUSINESS DCC: Mr. Crawford reported that he and Mr. Veihdeffer have had to reprogram each of the controllers several times. It seems that the battery backup in the master station needs to be replaced. Mr. Beasley to get battery. Club Future: Mr. Beasley (and others) detailed several possible plans for the Club's future, as we have less than 10 months after this year's fair to be off the property. a. Move everything. b. Do away with the car -- private owners, salvage, etc. c. No car, no layout, no club. d. Car on Metrolink siding. e. Car at Vincent Hill. f. No car, become a modular HO club. ANNOUNCEMENTS Summer AVARM Picnic: Pot-luck for all the model railroad clubs in the Antelope Valley. Saturday, 10 August 2002, 5 to 8 pm, at the Los Angeles Live Steamers. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 12 July 2002 at 2000 hours in the Club car. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Frozina moved and Mr. Beasley seconded to adjourn the meeting.
