ANTELOPE VALLEY MODEL RAILROAD CLUB 07 February 2003 Lancaster, California Minutes of the February 2003 regular business meeting. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 1959 hours in the Club car on the AV Fairgrounds. ROLL CALL Members present: J. Beasley, R. Boone, J. Cenkner, J.E. Cenkner, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, B. Haynes, M. Lacey, J. Madriaga, H. Morris, N. Schultz, D. Tate, and H. Veihdeffer. Guest present: Tammy Glasgow, Gordon Jefferson, Geri Schultz, Bill Shiverdecker, and Rob Ybarra. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES Mr. Tate moved and Mr. Lacey seconded that the reading of the minutes from the last regular meeting be waived and that the minutes be approved as written. The motion passed unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Frozina reported that we received our signed lease from the AV Fair and an NMRA Bulletin. Mr. Beasley reported that he received e-mail from members of a new MRC in Santa Clarita asking if they could visit our operation. Mr. Beasley also received a call from someone from the Jet Hawks. OFFICER REPORTS President: Mr. Crawford reported that he actually did something this month. (See "Car Relocation" for the stunning details.) Vice President: Mr. Beasley reported that he sent the defective cab back to Northcoast for repair. Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported that the web site has been updated. Treasurer: Mr. Schultz reported that he believes that we are solvent, but since we have not received bank statements for several months, he could not be certain. He will meet with Mr. Seefus next week to (hopefully) rectify this issue. Mr. Boone though did offered to accompany Mr. Schultz to Sun Country Bank to open a new account if necessary. Publicist: Mr. Beasley reported that our club announcement was in Railroad Model Craftsman. Superintendent: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. COMMITTEE REPORTS Electrical: Mr. Tate had no report. Fair Liaison: Mr. Schultz had no report. Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report. Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey had no report. Operations: Mr. Veihdeffer stated that last Friday's run session might be the last the he will ever set up, since very few members seem to be interested in running in a prototypical fashion. Rolling Stock: Mr. Madriaga will get and install a decoder in our new Metrolink train. Mr. Madriaga also complained that the cement hoppers would not run at 100 SMPH. Scenery/Structures: Mr. Tate had no report. Track: Mr. Tate reported that he finally got the polish mentioned in the Model Railroader article and it works great, although a bit pricey for a club-sized layout. SPECIAL ORDERS New Member: Ken Stoker was welcomed into the Club. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Greatest Hobby Layout: Mr. Schultz still needs to check with Mr. Seefus on any conditions. Car Relocation: Mr. Crawford reported that he e-mailed Granicys to set up a meeting between them and Mr. Veihdeffer and himself. NEW BUSINESS Soda: We need more soda: Coke, Pepsi, 7-Up, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, and good 'ol H2O. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Veihdeffer mentioned the Model Railroad Expo at Fairplex in Pomona, March 1 and 2. NEXT MEETING The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 7 March 2003 at 2000 hours in the Club car. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Morris moved and Mr. Beasley seconded to adjourn the meeting.
