Minutes of the April 1997 regular business meeting.


CALL TO ORDER

Meeting was called to order by Mr. Veihdeffer at 2005 hours in the Club car
on the AV Fairgrounds.


ROLL CALL

Members present: J. Beckmann, R. Boone, T. Crawford, J. Fowler, D. Frozina,
D. Jameson, E. Jones, R. Jones, D. Lawson, H. Morris, and H. Veihdeffer.


DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES

Mr. Crawford moved and Mr. Jameson seconded that the reading of the minutes
from the last regular meeting be waived, and that they be approved as
written.


COMMUNICATIONS

Mr. Frozina reported that one letter was received from the AV Fair (utility
bill).


OFFICER REPORTS

Treasurer: Mr. Crawford presented the quarterly report and reported that we
are solvent.  Mr. Frozina donated 72 cans of soda to the Club.


COMMITTEE REPORTS

Track: Mr. Beasley talked about the helix; the lower yard; the oil refinery;
the coal tipple and that the branch was started.

Bridges/Buildings: Mr. Veihdeffer mentioned that "Rhino" Bob will donate an
icing plant that he is building.

Housekeeping: Ms. Fowler mentioned that she vacuumed the Club facility.

Wiring: Mr. Crawford mentioned that he has installed more Tortoises.


SPECIAL ORDERS

None.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Train Control: Continued to the next meeting.

Heater: Mr. Morris reported that Goal Propane has the orifices for the burner
assembly, but have not called back. Someone reported that "Rhino" Bob has
some orifices and will drop them by when he can.

Turntable: Mr. Morris reported that he has yet to find a pit for the 
turntable.  Mr. Morris called Diamond Scale and found a 16" bridge and pit 
for $101.95; indexing motor for $75.95 and the indexer for $69.59.  
Mr. Frozina moved and Mr. Boone seconded that an additional $130.00 be 
appropriated to the original $125.00 (for a total of $255.00) to purchase a 
new bridge, pit, motor and indexer from Diamond Scale.  The motion passed 
unanimously.


NEW BUSINESS

Vests: Mr. Veihdeffer showed off his N'Scalers vest and suggested that our
Club also get them.  He will look into exact costs, including patches and
report back at the next meeting.

1997 AV Fair: Mr. Beasley suggested that since the Fair is fast approaching
that we also start meeting Wednesday nights, starting in May, to get the
layout in shape.


ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mr. Veihdeffer mentioned that the N'Scalers took 4th place at the Bakersfield
G.A.T.S. show.

Mr. Morris mentioned that he picked up a layout from somewhere in Littlerock,
part of which will make an addition to his layout, but the remainder is up
for grabs.


NEXT MEETING

The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, May 2, 1997, at 2000
hours in the Club car.


ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Frozina moved and
Mr. Beasley seconded that we adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed
unanimously.  The meeting adjourned at 2050 hours.
