Minutes of the May 1997 regular business meeting.


CALL TO ORDER

Meeting was called to order by Mr. Hertter at 2032 hours in the Club car
on the AV Fairgrounds.


ROLL CALL

Members present: J. Beasley, J. Beckmann, T. Crawford, D. Frozina,
T. Hertter, D. Jameson, R. Jones, H. Morris, and J. Wetzel.


DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES

Mr. Beckmann moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that we forget the reading
of the minutes from the last regular meeting.  The motion passed
unanimously.


COMMUNICATIONS

Mr. Frozina reported that three letters were received: one from the AV
Fair (utility bill), one from the AV Bank (statement) and one from
Driver & Associates (request for info).


OFFICER REPORTS

Vice President: Mr. Hertter announced that this will be his last meeting.
He and his family are moving to Tacoma, WA.

Treasurer: Mr. Crawford reported that we are solvent.

Publicist: Mr. Beckmann reported that he sent in the Fair announcements
to Model Railroader, Model Railroading and Railroad Model Craftsman 
magazines.


COMMITTEE REPORTS

Track: Mr. Beasley talked about the helix.

Wiring: Mr. Crawford mentioned that he has installed even more Tortoises.

Scenery: Mr. R. Jones will replace Mr. Hertter as Chairperson. 
Mr. R. Jones reported that he purchased 50-lbs. of Hydrocal for scenery
work.


SPECIAL ORDERS

None.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Heater/AC: Mr. Morris reported that he has not heard from Goal Propane.
No one has heard from "Rhino" Bob.

Turntable: Mr. Morris corrected the last minutes in that we are looking for
a Bowser turntable system.  He will contact Bowser and get an invoice, then
ask the Club to cut him a check for that amount.

Vests: Continued to next meeting.

Train Control: Mr. Beasley moved and Mr. Crawford seconded that we
appropriate $19.00 to purchase the installation manual for the control unit
we are considering.  The motion passed unanimously.  General costs are as
follows:  Base unit $749.00 for 8 blocks, $349.00 for each additional 8
blocks.  And $100 for 16 signals (8 blocks worth).  This system requires
no modifications to your trains.  Capable of running 99 trains in 240
blocks.  Possible walk-around units available in Aug. 1997.


NEW BUSINESS

None.


ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mr. J. Wetzel reported that their home layout is progressing nicely.  Only
block and turnout wiring need to be complete.


NEXT MEETING

The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, June 6, 1997, at 2000
hours in the Club car.


ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business or discussion, Mr. Frozina moved and
Mr. Beckmann seconded that we adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed
unanimously.  The meeting adjourned at 2047 hours.
