the AV Fairgrounds.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES

Mr. Veihdeffer moved and Mr. Morris seconded that the reading of the minutes
from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as
corrected. The motion passed unanimously.

COMMUNICATIONS

Mr. Frozina reported that nine letters were received since the last regular
meeting. Two from the AV Bank (statements); two from the AV Fair (utility
bill and credentials); four from Driver and Associates (two policy
notifications, one binder and our 1997 policy); and one from Mouser
Electronics (bill).

OFFICER REPORTS

Secretary: Mr. Frozina reported that the business card train (1998 sponsors)
is now on our web site.

Treasurer: Mr. Crawford presented the 1998 Fair Report and the 3rd Quarter
Report.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Construction: No report.

Control: Mr. Beasley reported that no manual seems to be available for the
system we have. He has e-mailed North Coast, but has yet to receive a
response.

Housekeeping: No report.

Rolling Stock: No report, although the members decided that the aviation fuel
tubing, used on the tank train, was too inflexible.

Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that the mine and power plant
areas on the lower level were complete. He also reported that the second
mountain was in progress.

Track: Mr. R. Wetzel reported that work will soon begin on the reverse loops
into and out of the helix.

Wiring: No report.

SPECIAL ORDERS

None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Shirts: Item tabled.

Heater: Mr. Crawford reported that he made up a connector tube with a
regulator. All we need now is the propane bottle.

Metal Wheels: Mr. Crawford moved and Mr. Frozina seconded that we drop this
item due to the cost involved. The motion passed unanimously.

Timesaver Module: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that it will (still) happen.

Backdrop: Mr. Crawford and Mr. Jameson will work on this item.

Business Card Train: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that we had nine sponsors at
$25.00 each, for a grand total of $225.00. One car, with the Quantum business
card, was given gratis for their hosting of our web site.

Club Logo Caps: Mr. Morris reported that he had 25 caps made up. Members can
purchase these baseball-style caps for only $4.00/each.

NEW BUSINESS

Club Logo Decals: Mr. Frozina reported that during the Fair, we sold three
sets of decals: two set to Alan Way for $3.00/each, and one set to a visitor
for $5.00/each.

Flea Market: Mr. Morris reported the he has placed two phone calls to the
organizers, but they have not been returned.

Electrical Power: Mr. Crawford reported that for the second time now in
several months, our main electrical disconnect outside has been switched
off. To rectify the situation, Mr. Crawford has used a Club padlock on the
switch, so stay current with your key.

Fair Board Representation: After much discussion, the members agreed to let
Mr. Schultz represent us at the monthly AV Fair Board meetings.

Wood Deck: Mr. Morris reiterated that the Fair manager wants the Club to
submit detailed construction plans before we can erect our deck outside the
East end of the Club car.

Misc. Track Items: The following observations were made: we need to put more
track nails in the flextrack; several long runs need to have expansion joints
cut into them; many turnouts need the points trimmed, and all the turnouts
need their frogs shimmed; many of the replacement ties have not had their
"tie plates" and "spikes" trimmed off before they were inserted; many ground
throws have been installed, thanks to Mr. Schultz.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lighted Display Sign: The Club thanked Mr. Browning for the excellent job on
the lighted display sign he created during the Fair. It has a steam engine
and the word "TRAINS" lit with more Christmas lights than you can
count! Great job Tim!

AV N'Scalers will be on 05 December 1998 at Zuma's Restaurant in Rosamond.
